WellHaven Pet Health of Minnetonka is a small animal practice just 20 minutes from the heart of Minneapolis. We are located in a phenomenal school district for your children (Minnetonka schools), close to shopping, 30 minutes or less to the U of MN College of Veterinary Medicine, and multiple other 24-hour emergency facilities for your patients. Centrally located, part of the metro area that is 20-30 minutes from the Twin Cities, where you can enjoy festivals, good food, great entertainment, and museums. MN loves the outdoors, and you will see us all seasons on the lakes!

Our facility provides you with modern equipment, a cloud-based computer system, a Cubex pharmacy system for controlled drugs, digital radiography including dental radiographs, an in-house IDEXX lab suite and a rigorous anesthesia monitoring system (BP, EtCO2, SpO2, EKG) including a Doppler.

Our practice encourages preventative Care through Care Companion Plans to offer clients an easy and affordable way to stay up to date on vaccines, bloodwork, and prophylactic dental. We are proud to provide full mouth digital radiographs standardly with all dental procedures and have an ultrasound, digital radiography, and a full Idexx suite of in-house lab machines. We want to expand our team with someone motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and a team player.

Our multi-doctor hospital is a comprehensive service small animal veterinary hospital that provides comprehensive medical care, including surgery, dentistry (with Dental Radiography), internal medicine, emergency, and critical Care. We also emphasize preventative health care, which includes puppy and kitten wellness, annual examinations, and dental awareness. We have several Free-Free certified associates and encourage all team members to utilize Fear-Free techniques while handling patients. We also work with and support rescue caseload here and love our partnerships in the community - ask about it!

Job Summary

The Associate DVM ensures a high quality of veterinary care, client service, employee well-being, and productivity of the veterinary medical team. The Principal Doctor and Practice Manager will lead the Associate DVM to ensure the well-being of the hospital environment, medical quality, and business performance of the hospital.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality care, safe and exceptional service to maintain a positive hospital environment, uphold medical standards, and support business performance
  • Adhere to all WellHaven protocols and practices and oversee employees to prioritize practice goals
  • Collaborate with the Principal Doctor to establish development plans that align with hospital objectives
  • Practice veterinary medicine in compliance with the State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws, WellHaven Code of Ethics, and maintain appropriate medical record documentation
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical charting for all patients, consistently meeting hospital quality control standards
  • Provide comprehensive client communication, including in-person, phone, and email as needed
  • Participate in community events, external marketing initiatives, and hospital projects
  • Demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and current medical practices (We will mentor our new graduates)
  • Advocate for exceptional client service and patient well-being
  • Provide medical training to support staff (new graduates will gain experience over time).

Customer Service Delivery:

  • Consistently provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills when interacting with the veterinary team and clients
  • Effectively adapt to individual clients and their needs
  • Effectively resolve customer complaints as appropriate

Other:

  • Lead and guide the team to ensure the hospital meets safety standards and regulations set by the DEA and OSHA (new graduates will gain experience over time).
  • Meet all OSHA standards and regulations as outlined in company policies
  • Ability to perform other job duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • State Veterinary Board License
  • On the first day of employment, must be in good standing with the state(s) employed to work for WellHaven
  • Current USDA Accreditation is a plus!

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Requirements

  • The Associate Doctor position is performed onsite at our hospital or an approved offsite event location. Remote work is not available for this position
  • May routinely be exposed to pets that may bite or scratch, biological hazards, anesthesia medications (smells), radiation if near an X-ray machine, prescription medications, including controlled substances.
