This role is part-time, no overnights, but weekends are needed.

Duties, Responsibilities & Must-Have-Skills:

  • Experience with urgent care/emergency surgical procedures (including, but not limited to, laceration repairs, abdominal explores and urinary unblocking)
  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Active, non-restricted veterinary license
  • Passed the NAVLE or ECFVG
  • Deep understanding of veterinary medicine, practices, and procedures (surgery and clinical)
  • Expert communicator (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Flexible, willing to perform many job duties within the hospital
  • Friendly, positive, team-oriented attitude
  • The desire to learn more and take the initiative.
  • Technically advanced in their field and possessing vital emotional intelligence and self-awareness, they bring a positive attitude and authenticity
  • DEA license required

  • No overnights
  • No General practice; all urgent care and emergency, we refer them back to their primary care provider for continued care.
  • Flexible scheduling-shared holidays and weekends. Evenings are expected (evenings are required)
  • Affiliated with six other WellHavens that partner on care; internal referrals are common
  • Equipment in-house: butterfly ultrasound, digital x-ray with radiologist consult, full lab suite including EPOC, baseline cortisol, CBC, PCV/TP, Chemistry, Lytes, glucometer, etc.
  • Everything you need in the Pharmacy to support what you need to help your patient
  • A well-trained, energetic, fun team that supports the doctors and loves what they do

Clinical Focus:

  • Examines diagnoses and treats animals surgically or medically
  • Operate medical equipment
  • Client communication about care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication

Other:

  • Lead and guide the team to ensure the hospital meets safety standards and regulations set by the DEA and OSHA
  • Meet all OSHA, Radiation standards and regulations as outlined in company policies
  • Ability to perform other job duties as assigned

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Requirements

  • The Associate Doctor position is performed onsite at our hospital or an approved offsite event location. Remote work is not available for this position
  • The hospital environment includes limited space, smells from pet waste, and noise (barking, etc.)
  • Schedules may include 10+ hour shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read information
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • May routinely be exposed to pets that may bite or scratch, biological hazards, anesthesia medications (smells), radiation if near an Xray machine, prescription medications, including controlled substances
